Everyone at Launch787 and anyone here that has been associated with the local Fashion community was heartbroken to hear the news of Jonyrose Filip’s passing on Monday. Our thoughts, prayers and raised glasses go out to her family and friends in our tight-knit community. Jonyrose was just 23.
Jonyrose’s photography and modeling work were stunning. She was the clear winner of last year’s Austin Fashion Award for Best Photographer (People’s Choice) culminating Austin Fashion Week. I personally will never forget the massive hug I got from her the moment we saw each other after she received her “Golden Boot.” I’ve never such joy and a young career literally take shape before my very eyes.
There are never any words that can do justice in tragic times like these. All we can do is remember Jonyrose for who she was: an immensely talented up-and-coming photographer with a free spirit who loved what she did and was never without a smile. Though she never received the chance to fully blossom, her works of art she left behind capture the talented young lady she grew into being and her passion for life. The life and laughter of Jonyrose will never be forgotten.
